Sam Salisbury’s self-portraits take the form or semi-surrealist, deeply psychological renderings. In this work, the face is amorphous, shifting and duplicating, with multiple perspectives visible at once. The work’s effect is less spatial and more mental, suggesting a multilayered psyche and a divided self. Salisbury received his BFA from The Art Institute of Chicago in 2001.
