Claire Oswalt

acrylic on sewn canvas
50 x 40 1/2 inches

Pieces of lusciously pigmented canvas come together to form organic compositions in the work of Claire Oswalt. Inspired by the beauty and geometry of nature, her recent works exist as deconstructed meditations on landscape. As Four shows the artist’s characteristic technical precision in the complicated web of the stitched lines where positive/painted sections play against negative/unpainted sections of canvas. Oswalt is a seventh-generation Texan, and has been included in exhibitions nationally and internationally. Her work has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, Paper Magazine, and Artweek, and she is a recipient of the Peter S. Reed Foundation Grant for Mixed Media.
