Tom Orr has long been fascinated with visual perception and illusion. For a number of years, and in a wide range of media, he has experimented with line and geometry to produce optical experiences that range from playful to disorienting. In Waterfall Drawing, Orr has drawn a pattern of arcing marks over a silkscreened field of black stripes. A dynamic moiré pattern is the result, creating a retina-burning 3D cascade that vibrates off the page. Orr has created several public art projects, including an installation for Terminal D at DFW airport, outdoor sculpture at Dallas Love Field, and a sculptural installation at UTSW Medical Center. His work has been shown in galleries and institutions throughout the US and Japan.
