TURN TOWARDS MIRROR

Silas Borsos’ partner Lily is the muse for many of his latest works, depicting intimate moments of everyday routines and gestures. In Turn Towards Mirror, Lily reaches to secure her hair while glancing at the mirror. The soft brushstrokes form blocks of color creating otherwise empty walls. The mirror catches the reflection of the lamp and pillow, offering a cream and blue contrast that draws the viewer’s eye to the mirror. This spatial experimentation is a concept Borsos routinely incorporates in his works, initiating a closer look at how we inhabit our environment. Borsos was born in Toronto and lives and works in Brooklyn. He received his MFA from the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture in 2020, and studied Philosophy and Theology at Concordia University. In 2021, Borsos was the subject of a two-artist exhibition with Beaux Mendes at Steven Harvey Fine Arts Projects, New York. Recent group exhibitions include ALL SMALL and Still Life and the Poetry of Place at Pamela Salisbury Gallery, Hudson.
