Pam Evelyn’s abstract painting vocabulary focuses on gestural mark-making laid within tightly structured compositions. Her works often feature removed passages where erasure, scraping, and scratching add to the energy in the work. In Trapped Light, brown strokes form a framework that exists in a chaotic void generated in part through thinly-veiled washes of paint. Evelyn’s work has been included in shows in the US, Europe, and Russia. She is a recent graduate of Slade School of Fine Art, University College, London, and is currently working towards her MA in Painting at Royal College of Art, London.
