German-born Chris Succo’s ZigZag Paintings all feature a black and white palette and kinetic, graphic lines. Music and poetry are major sources of inspiration for the artist. Before he enrolled in art school, he was in a number of rock bands, and he continues to write poems, many of which become inspiration (and even titles) for his paintings. The visual notation systems used in both music and poetry (music notes and letters) are present in Succo’s paintings where lines convey the energy of sounds, rhythm, and movement. Succo’s work has been shown at galleries and institutions in the US and Europe.
