WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE

2015
9 cast sculptures in silicone
approximately 4 1/4 x 4 x 2 inches each
edition 3 of 3 + 2 AP

In a practice that encompasses video, sculpture, and installation, Josh Kline takes aim at the anxieties and conflicts of contemporary life. In Who Do You Think You Are, nine donuts of varying skin tones hang in a regular grid. As the iconic American pastry, the donut has a variety of associations, among them as the snack stereotypically eaten by cops. Kline further complicates his piece by adding a pair of handcuffs only to the dark-skinned donut. Josh Kline is based in New York, and his work has been shown in the US and Europe.
