The Sushi Mirrors of Brazilian brothers Fernando and Humberto Campana first appeared in their Ocean Collection from 2015. Silver mirrors are lined with rolled slices of felt, rubber carpet, and EVA (a polymer similar to rubber), a combination they designed in 2002 while searching for a new approach to upholstery. The name comes from the process and finished product’s similarity to Japanese maki rolls, and the curved outlines of the mirror and intense blue-green color palette create a “liquid atmosphere.” Fernando and Humberto Campana began their studio in São Paolo in 2002, and their pieces are in the collections of MoMA and Centre Pompidou, Paris.
