London-based Andrew Bick achieves a contradictory sense of depth in his paintings and drawings by obscuring portions of his line work underneath layers of wax, washes of color, and strong flat shapes. In this drawing, the faint lines of pencil establish the composition, sectioning off portions and breaking grids into sharply angled segments. The playful chaos of Bick’s geometric and gestural style can be seen in his mix of hard-edged matte shapes interrupted by looser brushstrokes, neon outlines, and pale hues. Bick’s work has been included in solo and group exhibitions throughout Europe and the United States.
