Jackie Saccoccio

PORTRAIT (SOGNI D’ORO)

2013
oil and mica on linen
57 1/2 x 44 7/8 inches

Through veils of color applied with the canvas rotated at different angles, Jackie Saccoccio creates powerful and atmospheric works. Patterns of drips moving at different angles form nets of organic lines. Saccoccio often leaves the center of the canvas open, with the densest part of the composition at the edges, offering a meditative space at eye level for the viewer to contemplate. Saccoccio is a past recipient of the American Academy in Rome Prize, a John Simon Guggenheim Foundation Grant, a Monet Foundation Residency in Giverny, and a Fulbright Foundation Grant. She has exhibited her work throughout the US and Europe. Her work is included in the collections of Addison Gallery of American Art, Andover; Dakis Joannou Collection, Greece; Dallas Museum of Art; and Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago.
