Sam Moyer’s recent work continues to question and obscure the boundaries between painting, sculpture, design, and architecture. In her recent series of wall works, Moyer pairs found slabs of marble (remnants from home improvement projects) with geometric panels of dyed fabric. The juxtaposition transforms each material; the marble takes on a painterly surface, appearing light and airy, and the fabric becomes dense and sculptural. Sam Moyer has exhibited with the Public Art Fund, New York; MoMA PS1, Long Island City; LAND, Los Angeles; Tensta Konsthall, Stockholm; Nils Stærk, Copenhagen; Contemporary Art Museum, St. Louis; and The Drawing Center, New York, among others.
