Born in Japan, Aiko Hachisuka currently lives and works in Los Angeles. Hachisuka is best-known for her colorful “soft sculptures,” which suggest the crushed metals of John Chamberlain’s sculptures, but are instead made of silkscreened, worn clothing. In this related work, Hachisuka pressed one such painted garment against a sheet of paper to create a unique monoprint. Aiko Hachisuka’s work has appeared in various group shows throughout the country, including the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, and Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
