Obsessive accumulations of shapes and objects exemplify the work of Paul Booker. In this work, hand-drawn and cut rectangles are held together with a swarm of pins that seem to emerge off the wall in an organic clump. Booker curiously balances the manmade and the natural. His drawn rectangles and pins come from the handmade world, while the works three-dimensional form conjures crystalline growth, ants building a mound, or even moss covering a tree. Booker received his MFA from University of North Texas, and he has exhibited extensively throughout Texas at venues such as 500X Gallery, The MAC, William Campbell Gallery, and Dunn and Brown Contemporary.
