The paintings, sculptures, and installations of Michelle Rawlings often have a childlike quality and draw from her own experiences and memories. Each piece stands as part of a whole – like a single blog post or image added to Tumblr – its own attributes situated within a larger series. This piece transforms mass-produced plexiglass frames into all-over compositions and revisits the modernist monochrome shifted to the intimate scale of a portrait. A Dallas native, Rawlings’ work has been included in solo and group exhibitions in the US and Europe.
