Iván Navarro

led light, book, mirror, one-way mirror, and electric energy
16 1/8 x 11 1/8 x 3/8 inches
edition of 16 + 4 AP

Chilean artist Iván Navarro uses light and mirror to dramatic effect. In this work, a book titled La Ilustración Artística opens to reveal the word “END” repeated into an infinite space. A visually stunning play on the book’s cartoonish teachings in artistic illustration, Navarro juxtaposes the lessons in art with a real spatial effect to produce a work that is utterly mesmerizing and thought-provoking. Navarro has been the subject of solo exhibitions worldwide, and his light and mirror water tower works at NorthPark mall have been a favorite in the community since they were installed in 2014.
