acrylic on raw canvas
44 x 34 inches
Israel Lund produces exciting paintings that move in abstract imagery. In his recent series of untitled works, Lund uses a simplified silkscreen process on raw canvas, manipulating acrylic paint with a squeegee to create pixelated images that display qualities of blown-up photocopies. As an artist that acknowledges making paintings in the digital age, he says, “I love images, but I also love the physicality of the container. That’s just as important to me.” Brooklyn-based Israel Lund is a recent MFA Graduate from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers. He is off to an amazing start with recent and forthcoming solo exhibitions at Eleven Rivington, New York; Roberts & Tilton, Culver City; and Elaine Levy Project, Brussels.
