For his ongoing series Going Nowhere, Julian Hoeber designs sculptures and installations that act as imagined models or preliminary sketches for a fictional airport terminal without any flights. In Curtain Wall Widow #1, a plexiglass relief joins industrial architecture with the aesthetics of conceptual art. The sculpture appears to be only a segment of a wall of windows for the airport, or possibly a model for a much larger architectural portion. The undulating sections allude to commercial architecture but display Hoeber’s consideration of each component’s crafting. Hoeber is based in Los Angeles, and his work resides in collection across the US, including the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center.
