Still Life with Heirloom Tomatoes is related to Anthony Miserendino’s memory of a roadside market on the Amalfi Coast. Through a process that involved molding, casting, and assemblage, Miserendino created the produce, baskets, booth, tables, and the attendant. He ultimately combined all of these into a large-scale, four-panel relief cast in acrylic. Here, and in the larger relief, the various elements are unified by the color brown and become a stack of shape and texture clinging together in a bundle on the wall. Miserendino’s work has been shown in galleries throughout the US.
