Analia Saban investigates the material qualities of art’s most popular media – oil and acrylic paint, ink, paper, canvas, linen, marble, and wood – and re-presents the material highlighting its physicality. For this series, Saban weaves burlap or linen thread with “strings” of dried acrylic paint, incorporating the medium into the fabrics it usually sits upon. “Instead of painting on the canvas, I’m painting through the canvas,” says the artist. Saban’s work has been collected by numerous museums in the US and Europe.
