For a number of years, Texas-born Joel Ross has installed his poetic and provocative signs alongside highways, in parking lots, and in back alleys. His engagement with these public spaces is not sanctioned, and his signs offer a jarring disruption to the mundane activity of driving. Here, Ross heightens the moment of turning left or right on a deserted country road. One can imagine the impact of seeing this vague, yet potent, phrase appearing while driving down the quiet road at night.
