Düsseldorf-based Angelika Trojnarski’s fascination with the natural sciences – recent and older discoveries, debunked theories, and physical phenomena – instructs her choice of subject matter, materials, and process. She equates the artist to the scientist and has used magnets and chemical experiments in her painterly abstractions, along with semi-representational imagery drawn from the history of scientific exploration. Orbs of brown, gold, and blue cluster together in Die Große und die Kliene Welt (“The Great and the Small World”), alluding to celestial bodies and the gravity between each object in space. Trojnarski has exhibited internationally, and was the Artist-in-Residence at UT Dallas CentralTrak in spring 2016.
