Tatehana Takes Tokyo
Dorothy, unleash your inner Gaga, you’re not in Dallas anymore…
Noritaka Tatehana began creating his iconic heel-less shoes in 2010 as his graduation project at the Tokyo University of the Arts. The shoes take inspiration from clogs worn by Japanese courtesans in the Edo Period. His designs are included in the permanent collections at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and Victoria and Albert Museum, London. Noted artist Daphne Guinness and Lady Gaga are just two of Tatehana’s glamorous fashion-forward clients.
