Jennifer Guidi is a Los-Angeles based painter who explores ideas of meditation and calmness. In her Field Painting series, Guidi makes abstract works where she reduces painting to a simple repetitive mark. By limiting her materials to oil and sand, she elegantly explore the nuances of surface, texture, line, and mark-making. In Untitled Field #13, she patiently creates marks of sand that move across the black canvas. The marks, varying the slightest amount, create an active and optical image, yet generate a serene and calm atmosphere. Jennifer Guidi is based in Los Angeles.
