Louis Eisner is an engaging artist who makes works that vary in imagery and subject. His range is vast, spanning from large gestural paintings to small inkjet prints of Princess Diana superimposed with witty phrases. In Box 53, Eisner projects a small scribble onto a larger surface of stretched linen and carefully draws the up-scaled mark using oil, graphite, and marsh ink. Perhaps Eisner is creating a contemporary twist on the Abstract Expressionist great Franz Kline who in the late 1940’s enlarged images of his small gestural works by using an opaque projector, thus creating a visionary new language. Eisner lives and works in New York. He has had solo exhibitions in Brussels, Cologne, New York, and London. He is part of The Still House Group, an emerging arts organization based in New York.
