Peter Harakwik is a Los Angeles-based artist and curator working in sculpture and photography. In Hot Java 5B, Harkawik draws inspiration from the fields of industrial design and architecture by exploring themes of visual perception and intersubjective communication. Our eyes begin reading the work from the left, first recognizing the illusive image of a coffee stand, and as we continue, parts begin to physically disappear, creating voids that ultimately reveal the structural support. Harkawik received his MFA in Sculpture from Yale University, and his work is included in the permanent collection at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles.
