In his strikingly composed photographs, Dallas artist Alex Remington has taken on a number of subjects ranging from the homeless to religion to imagined tableaux, seen here in Chainsaw and Mow. In both works, a drag queen in full hair and make-up takes on the manual labor duties of maintaining the lawn. In each scene, she is way overdressed for the job in a fabulous metallic gown, angrily smoking a cigarette and attacking the task at hand while grass and wood chips fly through the air. Remington’s work has been exhibited at a number of venues throughout Texas, including Neiman Marcus, Design Within Reach, Dallas Center for Contemporary Art, and One Arts Plaza.
