Enigmatic scenes of plant and animal life appear in French photographer Didier Massard’s most recent series – Territories. To achieve this sense of heightened realism, the artist spends months meticulously building fantastic dioramas to photograph. In April Garden, a misty scene appears at dawn with lush, fairy tale plant life oddly out of scale. The only hint of activity is an uninhabited spider web stretched between two stalks. Massard lives and works in Paris. His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the French Institute Alliance Française, New York; Museum of Arts and Design, New York; and Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans, among others.
