Color and light merge in a carefully composed dialogue of forms in Anna Kunz’s work. In Naked Light, repeated geometric shapes suggest reflections of light as they play across space in direct, bright light, and cooler blue shadows. Kunz’s loose brushwork is expressive but controlled, adding a quiet sensitivity to this beautiful work. Kunz’s works on paper, paintings, installations, and other compositions have been exhibited in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, New York, Madrid, and Poland. Kunz is the recipient of multiple awards and accolades, including nominations from 3Arts, Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation, Richard H. Driehaus Foundation, Emerging Artist award from the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Artadia Chicago, Rema Hort-Mann Foundation’s Individual Artists Grant, and The Joan Mitchell Foundation in 2020. She is in the public collections of The Philadelphia Museum; The Block Museum, Chicago; Fidelity Investments, Chicago; Toyota Collection Dallas; and the Clements Collection of UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, among others.
