Painter Eric Cruikshank pulls the color palette for his monochrome works from landscapes, not directly but from the “emotive qualities of place.” For his Paper Skies series, the artist meticulously applies vibrant oil paint to paper, purposely hiding his brushstrokes to make the gradation appear effortless. This technique allows the traditional medium to emanate an ethereal light. Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, Cruikshank has exhibited his work throughout the UK and Europe.
