Eva Lundsager’s lush paintings occupy the territory between landscape and abstraction. Evidence of Lundsager’s painting process is apparent in her thin washes, scribbly, gestural lines, and scrubbed-out brushstrokes, seen here in Popple. The work is a testament to her skill with the medium, existing as both a beautiful painterly composition and an image of some fantastic landscape. Lundsager’s work is in collections such as the Dallas Museum of Art and the St. Louis Art Museum. Lundsager is the recipient of a Penny McCall Foundation Grant and a Guggenheim Fellowship in painting.
