CLEAR DAY (INVERTED) (SILVER AWNING)
cast fiberglass and acrylic
81 3/4 x 58 x 9 inches
Artist Rosha Yaghmai finds inspiration for her psychedelic colors, found materials, and crumbling structures in the worn aesthetic of her hometown, Los Angeles. Yaghmai applies touches of rainbow colored paint to her awning sculptures, simulating iridescence on the metallic cast piece. Like these awning wall pieces, many of her works are based on relics of our manufactured world, finding beauty in the junky objects she discovers on her drives around the city. Her architectural work recalls some of her influences, including the cast latex pieces of Swiss artist Heidi Bucher and the sculptures of Robert Gober and Mike Kelly. Yaghmai’s work can be found in public and private collections, and she has exhibited internationally.
