UNTITLED – CURVED ANNULAR SECTOR OR EXTERNAL RECTANGLE
paint on plexi
24 x 18 x 3 inches
Fragments of geometric forms float within the plexiglass surface of Loring Taoka’s paintings. He realistically shades and highlights bent rectangles, line fragments, and more complex forms suggesting a digitally rendered model projecting from the wall. The title refers to the mathematical name for an area bound by two concentric circles, and this structure appears to be levitating in mid-rotation. Taoka lives in northwest Arkansas and has exhibited in Ohio, New York, and Texas.
