Yossifor-Liat

Liat Yossifor

TWO FIGURES
2012
oil on linen
16 x 14 inches

Liat Yossifor’s monochromatic, gestural works revel in the tension between abstraction and representation. And though they appear to use white exclusively, subtle grey tones appear throughout the work. LA Times art critic David Pagel described her palette saying, “Soothing grays predominate, ranging from whisper-soft tints as delicate as a mourning dove’s feathers to steely shades that would be at home on a battleship.” In Two Figures, curved lines hint at the anthropomorphic forms of the title, though the real action takes place through the depth of color and paint that activate the surface. Yossifor has been in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the US and abroad, including solo exhibitions at the Pomona College Museum of Art, Claremont, and the Noga Gallery of Contemporary of Art, Tel Aviv.
