Julian Faulhaber

KABINEN (CABINS)
2005
lambda print
30 x 57 inches
edition of 7

Born in Wurzburg, Julian Faulhaber is known for antiseptic views of new architectural structures, such as gas stations and hip restaurants. Exploring architectural sites at length before preparing a 4 x 5 slide, Faulhaber’s photographs provide insight on the containers in which humans live their daily lives. Despite its Photoshop-like appearance, Kabinen (Cabins) was lit with only existing lighting, creating a compelling contemporary image via traditional modes. Faulhaber studied at the University for Photography in Dortmund. His work has been featured in solo exhibitions at Galleria Etraspazio, Rome, and Braennen, Berlin. Faulhaber’s work can be found in public collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Harvard Art Museum, Cambridge; and Princeton University Art Museum.
