Scottish-born, London-based artist Graham Little makes beautiful and intimate drawings inspired by fashion magazines. Flash Art writer and curator Matt Price says of Graham’s work:
The enforced gazes of the fashion models hold the viewer back from assigning profound psychological significance to their expressions, though a range of emotional states from the assertive and aloof to the pensive and self-conscious can be discerned. Darkness and shadows play a key role in Little’s resonant and sumptuous images, and while they never become threatening, they bring an element of drama, mystery, intrigue and sobriety into the various artificial scenarios and sets in which the women pose.
Graham Little has exhibited internationally, including a solo exhibition at Camden Arts Centre, London, and group exhibitions Drawing Now: Eight Propositions at MoMA, New York; Images of Society at Kunstmuseum, Thun; WALL ROCKETS: Contemporary Artists and Ed Ruscha at The FLAG Art Foundation, New York; The Associates at Dundee Contemporary Art Centre, Dundee; and Lebenslust & Totentanz at Kunsthalle, Krems. His work is represented in many important collections, including Museum of Modern Art, New York; The Guggenheim Museum, New York; The Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art; The British Council Collection; The Zabludowicz Collection, London; and The Olbricht Collection, Berlin.
