SURFACE SUPPORT (IT’S GETTING CLEARER)
2015
uv curable ink on mirror polished steel
70 x 40 inches

A small, hand-drawn grid on a piece of paper is translated through computer imaging onto a mirrored support in this work by South African artist Dean Levin. Chattered lines and gaps make the grid appear more human that mathematical. Levin’s polished steel support is deliberately architectural in scale with the size and proportions of a standard doorway. Layered on top of its reflected surroundings, the grid adds a slightly jarring, yet playful, veil of horizontals and verticals onto a familiar space. Levin has exhibited at galleries throughout the US and abroad.
