Eva Lundsager

FOR A BETTER 29

2015
watercolor and sumi ink on paper
14 x 11 inches

Eva Lundsager’s recent series of watercolor and Sumi ink works hover between the realms of abstraction and landscape. A defined horizon line with shapes dispersed above and below orients the work to our traditional understanding of landscape painting, though her color choices push the piece to more psychological territory. It is as if Lundsager offers us the emotional state of the setting, echoed in the radiant orbs that float and expand throughout the piece. Lundsager is the recipient of a Penny McCall Foundation Grant and a Guggenheim Fellowship in painting, and her work has been shown at venues around the US.
