Special Thanks from TWO x TWO 2012

TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art is a remarkable illustration of what can be achieved when the vision, determination, passion and incredible generosity of so many people converge. Having raised over $35 million for amfAR and the Dallas Museum of Art in its first thirteen years, we are truly inspired and moved by the unrelenting support and devotion of the Dallas community and our friends in the contemporary art world whose continued efforts and support have created one of the most beloved and significant fundraising endeavors of our time. It is with deep respect and gratitude that we acknowledge the following for their incredible contributions to TWO x TWO 2012.

We wish to express our deep appreciation to TWO x TWO’s dazzling 2012 Event Chairman, Amy Phelan. Her boundless resourcefulness, infectious spirit, determination and warm heart have helped us raise the bar again. We thank her for her innovative ideas and enthusiasm and for sharing her passion for great art, great artists, and also great parties, with TWO x TWO. Thank you, Amy.

DMA and amfAR Board Trustee Cindy Rachofsky and her husband Howard deserve special recognition for opening their magnificent Richard Meier-designed house for the fourteenth time to host this event. It is their remarkable vision and passionate support for the Dallas Museum of Art, their dedication to amfAR and the fight against AIDS and their extraordinary generosity that have made TWO x TWO such a cherished event for everyone involved. We are all forever grateful for their heartfelt commitment and leadership.

It is with genuine gratitude that we thank our friends at Neiman Marcus for their tremendous support as the 2012 Presenting Sponsor. Audi of America joins TWO x TWO for their second year with ardent enthusiasm and we are privileged to welcome them back. Cartier’s  longtime support of amfAR and TWO x TWO has blossomed into a new level this year as they join us at the Platinum level. We thank them for their generous and continued participation. Sotheby’s longtime partnership with TWO x TWO has been instrumental to the success of the event, especially with their vision in creating an education-oriented atmosphere through their annual underwriting of the auction catalogue and preview events. As part of TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art 2012, distinguished artist Richard Phillips will receive the amfAR Award of Excellence for Artistic Contributions to the Fight Against AIDS in recognition of his generous support of this event. The presentation of this annual award will take place during a brunch on Sunday, October 21, hosted by Amy and Vernon Faulconer, and Cindy and Howard Rachofsky at the grand opening of their new warehouse space. This year, TWO x TWO engaged in a new and exciting partnership and one that combined great art and artists with one of the greats in luxury fashion, the Nancy Gonzalez company. We would like to share our heartfelt thanks with Santiago Barberi Gonzalez for spearheading this project on behalf of his family’s company. Together he and Amy Phelan reached out to 10 beloved artists to decorate 10 albino crocodile Nancy Gonzalez bags. Each story and each bag is different; just as is the case with the other artworks in the auction. We thank each of the artists who participated willingly, gifting us with these superbly unique handbag artworks and we thank the Nancy Gonzalez company for their leadership, resourcefulness, and commitment to excellence in seeing the project through to the end.

TWO x TWO thanks Lindsey and Patrick Collins, the 2012 Art Chairmen, for their assistance in securing some of the extraordinary works of art in the 2012 auction.
