Will Rogan

WHEN TIME STANDS STILL
2010
silver gelatin print
16 x 20 inches
edition 1 of 3 + 1 AP

Will Rogan’s work investigates the passage of time alongside the everyday practices of seeing, believing, and preserving images. When Time Stands Still not only depicts a couple on a beach lost in the moment, but also the magazine containing their image, simultaneously and beautifully referencing its place in the world as object and as image. The work gains new meaning when the magazine spread is re-photographed, complicating our relationship to the photo, its presentation, and our perception. Will Rogan lives and works in Albany. His work has been exhibited widely, including exhibitions at SFMoMA; Berkeley Art Museum; BE-PART Platform voor Actuele Kunst, Waregem; The Mercer Art Union, Toronto; L’Enclos des Bernadins, Hôtel de Miramion, Paris; and the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo.
