(#348) “V” STUDY-GDL
acrylic on canvas
20 x 20 inches
Through a carefully calibrated grid of repeated bands of color, Susie Rosmarin creates eye-popping works that challenge perception. For a number of years, the Houston-based artist has continued the legacy of Op Art by exploring the potential for depth and dimension that exists on the surface of a flat canvas. In (#348) “V” Study-GDL, Rosmarin’s lush color palette of bright greens, pinks, and blues stand in contrast to the jarring effect of the center of the painting jutting out at the viewer, achieved through her meticulous shrinking of the lines as they reach the corners. Rosmarin’s work can be found in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York; and the Dallas Museum of Art, among others.
