Swedish artist Ragna Bley often uses stains and washes of color in her work, giving it a dreamlike ambiguity where scale and image are not fixed. In Bone Glossary, a reptilian creature hovers over two objects that resemble chess pieces. Like Francis Bacon before her, Bley only delineates space with a simple outline. Bley’s aim is to hint at, but not define, this invented world, and it appears that the scene has barely formed (or just disappeared) before our eyes. Bley has exhibited her work in shows throughout Europe.
