spider’s web and spray paint on foam-core
35 5/8 x 25 1/2 x 3 inches

In a recent exhibition, Josh Tonsfeldt used personal history and a sense of place as the jumping off point for many of his works. The artist has made a number of spider web pieces, spraying the web with paint and affixing it to a white backdrop. The piece’s composition depends on the spider’s work, materials caught in the web, and a bit of chance. Spare and quiet, Tonsfeldt’s work is a remnant, evidence of a fleeting moment in space and time not just for the spider, but for the artist, as well. Tonsfeldt’s work has been included in group shows at galleries in the US and abroad.
