Adam Silverman

UNTITLED

stoneware, glaze, and burnt wood
40 x 14 x 14 inches

LA-based Adam Silverman’s evocative ceramic works include a range of elemental, organic forms that are often abstract in nature. Here, an earth-toned sculpture rests on burnt wood, setting up a dialogue where both clay and wood have been transformed by fire. Silverman fires and refires his pieces, building up layers of glaze, seen in the painterly textures of this work. Silverman has exhibited at museums and galleries worldwide. Locally, his work has been shown at the Kimbell Art Museum and the Nasher Sculpture Center, where his collaboration with Nader Tehrani Boolean Valley (a field of ceramics forms in varying heights) was installed in the fountains near the back of the garden.
