Andrew Kuo

TROUBLE (8/13/13)

2013
acrylic and carbon transfer on panel and laminated paper
51 x 38 inches

Andrew Kuo uses a hard-edge and geometric language to poetically chart an internal logic of empiricism. Taking his heart’s entanglements as a source, he then translates this emotional wrangling into shapes, hues, values, and intensities of color that produce playful abstractions of striking and impactful beauty. This work shows not only a reverence for various historical models of geometric abstraction, but also exhibits contemporary qualities of complex scientific graphs of the digital age. Andrew Kuo lives and works in New York. His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Galleria Marabini, Bologna; Franklin Art Works, Minneapolis; Artists Space, New York; and 1026, Philadelphia. He has been featured in group exhibitions at Wallspace, New York; The Armory, New York; V1 Gallery, Copenhagen; Garage Center for Contemporary Culture, Moscow; and Memphis College of Art, to name a few.
