The result of careful observation and a love of nature, Maureen Gallace’s intimate paintings offer moments of meditative beauty. For years, Gallace has refined her approach of paring down her chosen subject to its most essential forms. Buildings become geometric volumes anchored in the landscape, and trees are depicted with just a handful of carefully placed brushstrokes. In September, the bright summer light is present in the landscape, with just a hint of the changes fall will bring. Gallace’s work has been the subject of museum exhibitions worldwide, and is included in a number of public collections, including the Dallas Museum of Art.
