Michael Alan’s visual language incorporates figures and abstract elements manipulated into energetic and pulsating works. In Slurpie Dog Wants to Sit, Alan’s sprightly line work weaves in and out of the figure with a rich variety of color, thickness, and rhythm. At first, the figure appears to be a nebulous form in motion, as if to reflect the fast-paced energy of the information age. But at second glance, it reveals beautifully placed fragments of collaged paper hidden in the web of line work, resulting in a complex, yet thoughtful, work of art. Michael Alan’s work has been shown extensively in New York City, where he lives and works.
