German-born Agnes Lux is a neo-process artist who has put her own spin on the Mail Art movement from the 1970s. She draws loose geometric shapes on blank postcards and then embellishes them with copper leaf, carefully numbering them for assembly later into a larger composition. She then mails the postcards to herself, sending them through the physically rough process of delivery. Finally, she combines the postmarked copper drawings into large works that follow her coded and hermetic system. The final shimmering mosaic collages have a rigid yet manhandled quality, resonating with codes both ancient and modern, simple and technological. Lux’s work has been included in exhibitions in New York, Madrid, Pistoia, Paris, Dusseldorf, and Cologne.
